About this place
Whether you are dropping in on a whim for a quick drink or settling in for an unhurried session, Itamae ga Iru Machi no Sakaba Shoya Minami-Gyotoku (板前がいる町の酒場 庄や 南行徳店) is a dependable option. Open continuously from noon until late at night, the tavern accommodates many occasions, from solo drinks enjoyed quietly at the counter to gatherings around a table with friends.
At the core of the menu is fresh seafood, offering the straightforward flavors of raw fish through sashimi. Platters are tailored to group size: larger parties can share the five-variety Oki-mori or the lavish Tairyo-mori, while solo guests can opt for the seasonal single-diner sashimi plate featuring smaller portions of four to five selections. A wide array of drinking snacks is also on hand, including maguro butsu (chopped tuna) selected through the discerning eye of Yonekawa Suisan, and namerou of the day, finely minced fish seasoned with aromatics and miso.
Beyond fish, classic izakaya dishes readily catch the eye. Comforting staples abound, including the house-specialty nikomi (slow-simmered stew) rich with flavor, warm and fluffy agedashi Shoya tofu, and charcoal-grilled yakitori skewers. Compact ate-maki sushi rolls, such as spring onion with fermented soybeans (negi-natto) or conger eel with cucumber (anago-kyuri), also provide easy bites that naturally keep drinks flowing.
To accompany the food, the drink list ranges from sake sourced from across Japan to standard draft beer, Hoppy, and refreshing fruit sours. Heartier options like fried rice, omurice, and seiro soba are also served, making the venue equally practical for a filling lunch or as a satisfying conclusion to an evening of drinking.
